Cat Boarding Policies for Ruxton Animal Hospital

  • We strive to make your cat’s stay with us as comfortable and stress - free as possible and we give individual attention to each of our guests. We have separate dog and cat facilities and spacious cat condos for your furry friend.

  • You may bring toys and treats for your cat, but we discourage items such as string toys, cat beds, and towels. We cannot be responsible for any personal items left at Ruxton Animal Hospital. Please leave your cat carrier with us - it will be properly labeled and available when you pick up your pet.

  • To ensure the health and safety of your cat, we require that all pets in the boarding area be up to date on the following vaccinations and be free of infectious diseases and parasites. If any of these services are overdue, they will be performed during your pet’s stay at your expense.

    • Yearly Physical

    • Rabies Vaccine

    • Distemper Vaccine (FVRCP)

    • Feline Leukemia Virus/Feline Immunodeficiency blood test (FeLV/FIV, for outdoor cats with unknown exposure)

    • A negative fecal exam is required within the last 6 months.  If we perform a fecal test during your pet’s stay for any reason and the sample comes back positive, they will be treated at your expense.

  • If fleas, ticks, and/or ear mites are found on your cat upon admission to our facility, appropriate treatment will be performed, at your expense, to prevent the spread of these parasites to other guests in the hospital.

  • Our staff is trained to administer any medications to your cat during their stay. Medications will be given as instructed for an additional daily fee of $7. If your cat is prescribed new medications to be given during his/her stay, this additional daily fee will be applied.

  • Should your cat exhibit decreased appetite during their stay, we may add a bland canned diet to their food to entice them to eat. Cost of cans is additional and will be applied to your account.

  •  In the event a medical concern is presented during your pets stay, a regular exam will be performed and charged along with any required treatments. We will make every attempt to reach you and the emergency contact provided.  However, to ensure the safety and comfort of your pet, we will automatically perform a physical exam and provide the appropriate medical treatment supervision at your expense if we are unable to reach you.

  • For pets who have services requested/due: if you plan to drop your pet off anytime on Saturdays (or Fridays after 2pm if we are closed that Saturday) and you plan to pick up your pet the Monday after, please plan to pick up AFTER 2pm. This allows time for our medical team to complete services before you arrive to pick up.

  • Ruxton Animal Hospital does not offer or provide 24 hour supervision.
