Boarding Policies for Ruxton Animal Hospital
-
We strive to make your dog's stay with us as comfortable as possible and we give individual attention to each of our guests. We have spacious indoor runs available for large or extra - large dogs, as well as medium and small cages for our smaller guests.
-
You may bring safe chew toys and treats for your pet(s), but we discourage items such as rawhide chews, pig ears, hooves, stuffed animals, plastic dog beds, and towels. Please keep your leash and have it available when you pick up your pet.
-
-
All dogs are leash walked outdoors twice daily in an area adjacent to the hospital. In order to prevent your pet from contracting fleas and ticks on their walks, we recommend administration of an oral flea / tick preventative called Nexgard, or a topical flea/ tick preventative called Frontline Gold upon admission. These products are effective for 1 month after administration.
-
To ensure the health and safety of your dog, we require that all pets in the boarding area be up to date on the following vaccinations and be free of infectious diseases and parasites.
Rabies Vaccine
DKPP Vaccine
Bordetella (kennel cough) Vaccine
CIV (influenza) Vaccine
-
A physical exam is required to receive vaccinations. The exam cost is $56. If we have examined your pet within the last 6 months, a minor exam will be performed for $42. If medical problems are found and treated, the exam fee will be $68.
-
A negative fecal exam is required within the last 6 months. The fecal exam cost is $62.34. We highly recommend that all dogs be tested annually for heartworm and tick borne diseases. If your dog's stool sample is found to be positive, s(he) will be treated during her/his stay.
-
If fleas, ticks, and / or ear mites are found on your dog upon admission to our facility, appropriate treatment will be performed, at your expense, to prevent the spread of these parasites to our other guests in the hospital.
-
Our staff is trained to administer any medications to your dog during their stay. Medications will be given as instructed for an additional daily fee of $6. Please fill out a supplemental Medication Form in its entirety, including names, doses, instructions, etc for each medication your pet is on. Should your dog exhibit decreased appetite during their stay, we may add a bland canned diet to their food to entice them to eat. Cost of cans is additional and will be applied to your account.
-
If your pet develops a medical problem while staying with us, we will attempt to reach you or the provided emergency contact. To ensure the safety of your pet, we will automatically perform a physical exam and provide the appropriate medical treatment supervision at your expense if we are unable to reach you.
-
We can perform dental cleanings and other surgical procedures while your pet is boarding with us. Please discuss specific requests with the receptionist and fill out appropriate consent forms when you drop off your dog for boarding.
